  • Bay laurel plants thrive well in pots but can also be planted directly in the ground. When grown in soil, they can reach impressive heights of 40 to 50 feet. These plants do not require consistently moist soil, so allow the top few inches of the pot to dry out before watering again. In your garden, this edible plant adapts well to various soil types, but ensure proper drainage and allow the soil to dry a bit between waterings. It is winter hardy to around -5 degrees Celsius, if potted, you can bring the plant indoors during winter, but remember to place it in a bright location away from drafts and heat sources. Keep in mind that bay laurel plants are not safe for pets, so take care to protect your furry companions.
